Technical Assistance to the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA S.A.) for the Implementation of the “Athens Project” (Development Plan for the City of Athens)

The Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA) supports Athens’ ongoing evolution as a contemporary European capital, by designing, planning and implementing a wide range of projects and actions throughout its metropolitan area.
ADDMA supports the City of Athens to deliver its ambitious 10-year strategic plan. This plan, known as The Athens Project, is based on 5 priorities.

1. Boosting competitiveness and entrepreneurship especially in the tourism sector
2. Improving Athenians’ quality of life by a series of cutting-edge green development policies and actions.
3. Promoting urban regeneration through the substantial renovation and development of public buildings, squares, open spaces and city infrastructures.
4. Managing the social crisis through targeted interventions tackling poverty and ensuring social inclusion.
5. Technical Assistance to municipal departments and affiliated organizations in order to ensure both smooth implementation and to sustain its impact.

The Athens Project has secured funding for €120 million worth of projects while an additional €54 million are being sought to finance maturing projects. In this context Kantor supported the implementation of 17 small and medium-size investment projects with a total value of 24 million in the areas of waste management, tourism, urban regeneration, buildings renovation and culture.
Kantor’s initial role was the prioritization of the proposed investment project pipeline based on the evaluation of each project’s  the maturity, feasibility, completion period etc.

The specialized support services that KANTOR provided are analyzed in the following thematic actions:

• Action 1: Support to the implementation of infrastructure projects (buildings, transportation, urban regeneration, etc.).
• Action 2: Support to the implementation of projects in the following fields: environment, waste management/ waste and energy saving.
• Action 3: Support to the implementation of projects in the following fields: culture, tourism, entrepreneurship, training, employment and social care.
• Action 4: Support to ADDMA SA and Municipal Services for upgrading their managerial capacity, accelerating the projects’ implementation and their viability.
