Kantor Management Consultants in partnership with Schuman Associates have been responsible for setting up and managing the Support Facility for Broadband Competence Offices (BCOs) since 2017, under a contract by EC/DG AGRI.
The objective of this project is to deliver on the EU Digital Agenda targets on broadband rollout, to help reach the Gigabit Society objectives and to bring reliable, high-speed broadband connectivity to all EU citizens, with a particular focus on rural areas where connectivity challenges are highest.
To this end, the Facility animates the network of Broadband Competence Offices (BCOs), the national and regional public authorities supporting broadband deployment across the EU, and promotes the setting-up of new BCOs, by providing information, by assisting the planning and implementation of EU funded broadband projects and facilitating networking and exchange of know-how and good practices.
The BCO Network's knowledge exchange and capacity-building programme includes training and network events, thematic group meetings and online discussion groups as well as publications and video interviews dedicated to increasing the capacity of European BCOs.
