Strategy review of a leading petroleum firm
We reviewed the upstream and downstream strategy of a leading player in the petroleum sector and assessed supply and demand characteristics in their markets of interest, as well as evaluating strategic options. We also supported them in formulating a strategy to double their EBITDA within five years, through a multi-billion euro investment plan and an extensive organisational transformation project.
Pricing of energy products in Egypt
We formulated a strategy for pricing of all energy products and phasing out of energy subsidies for the Egyptian government. Our work included development of costing and pricing models for all energy sub-sectors, assessment of the socioeconomic impact of the proposed price reform and formulation of measures to mitigate the impact on the poorer segments of the population. We also set out a transition path and an action plan for implementation.
Strategic Repositioning of major retail chain in athletic wear and equipment
We assisted one of the top-three chains and retail brands in athletic wear and gear in strategic repositioning by adopting a two-phase approach. This began with re-definition of their positioning strategy (including market mapping and scenario analysis and evaluation) and concluded with its implementation through design of a new store concept (including layout, product offer and store processes). The four-month project led to significant improvement in brand preference and loyalty, and increases in same-store and overall sales.
Commercial policy review of a major national franchise
A top-three mobile telecom operator, running a nation-wide branded chain of stores, enlisted us to assist in redesigning their dealer and franchise policy. We identified the key issues and customised our commercial policy simulator to the specific sector and chain. This enabled us to produce and jointly evaluate various scenarios, and support the sales department in communicating and implementing the new policy. This was aimed at either reversing point-of-sale performance trends on key products or generating savings for the operator.
