Athens – 16/11/2010: Support to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to meet the requirements of the Energy Community Treaty with specific reference to Energy Efficiency and Renewables

Kantor is part of a consortium comprising EPTISA and MVV-DECON that was awarded the above 2.4 million euro EU funded project in September 2010. The Contracting Authority is the EC Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The project aims to assist in the reform of the energy sector in BiH and to create a country wide energy market, integrated into SEE and the EU, in line with commitments to the Energy Community Treaty, Energy Charter Treaty, Kyoto Protocol and all aspects of the Acquis Communautaire relating to energy efficiency (EE), renewables (RES) and energy sustainability. The scope of the work under the project includes educating energy stakeholders about EE and RES, launching EE and RES demonstration projects to illustrate to municipalities and households how they could improve energy use and uptake of renewables, building up capacity of local institutions and actors to foster EE and RES, and helping to establish an institutional and policy framework for EE and RES that supports energy market reforms.
